Project Partners Programme:
improve access to free community testing
We are looking for Project Partners committed to funding the expansion of our mobile diabetes testing and support services. It’s the only service of its kind in New Zealand, but a lack of resources means we currently only operate in South and West Auckland. With your support we can expand the service to new regions.
Why this matters
Diabetes is a silent epidemic, and early detection saves lives. Too often, people go undiagnosed due to financial hardship, lack of access to healthcare, or not being aware of the symptoms. Early intervention means longer, healthier lives and we believe everyone deserves that chance, no matter where they live or their income level.
The opportunity
We currently operate one mobile community testing van, serving socially and economically disadvantaged areas in South and West Auckland. With your support, we can expand to two new regions, where we already have dedicated staff and strong community connections.
After trialing free community testing in these two additional regions, we will share the results and lobby for more funding to take mobile testing to other regions across the country.
Our Goal
We already have staff in nine regions in New Zealand. With more portable HbA1c analysing equipment and some staff training, we can scale up our outreach. Our estimated budget of $113,750 covers training, equipment, and testing supplies for a two-region pilot.
Paul’s Journey
When Paul came to us, his HbA1c was dangerously high, he weighed 180kg, and didn’t have a GP. After receiving education and lifestyle guidance, he made major changes. Months later, he had lost 30kg, inspired his family to improve their health, and completely transformed his wellbeing—all thanks to free community testing.
