Anytime Fitness NZ proud to host the first national Cardio KMs for Diabetes Fundraising Challenge

During the month of July, Anytime Fitness clubs across New Zealand are set to come together to attempt to achieve a collective 257,000 cardio kilometres, with each kilometre representing one adult or child in this country directly affected by diabetes.

With the aim of raising much-needed funds for Diabetes NZ, Anytime Fitness are challenging their members and staff to donate a minimum of $0.20 for every kilometre they personally complete. Kilometres can be achieved both inside and outside of the club, using any form of cardiovascular exercise (walking, running, cycling, rowing, etc.) and will be recorded in each club using a public progress chart.

Anytime Fitness New Zealand’s Marketing Manager, Craig Cawkwell, recently shared his thoughts on the Challenge with Diabetes NZ.

“The team at Anytime Fitness New Zealand are incredibly excited about the Cardio KMs for Diabetes Fundraising Challenge, which is our first national fundraising campaign for Diabetes NZ since becoming a Champion Sponsor in late 2017.

“Our aim was to devise a style of challenge that engaged as many Anytime Fitness members and staff members as possible, whilst strongly emphasising the importance of regular cardiovascular exercise in the management and prevention (in some cases) of diabetes.

“257,000km is obviously a lofty goal! However, both the Anytime Fitness National Support Office and our family of franchisees and staff are looking forward to giving it a good go! The most important thing is that we capitalise on this fantastic opportunity to educate our local communities about the importance of regular exercise. The money raised for Diabetes NZ will be a big bonus and will go a long way in supporting Kiwi families affected by the condition.”

Diabetes NZ would like to thank our Champion Sponsor Anytime Fitness for their ongoing commitment and support.
