New CareSens meters

New CareSens meters

PHARMAC would like to remind people that there will be four funded CareSens meters and test strips: CareSens N, CareSens N POP, CareSens N Premier, and the CareSens Dual which tests both blood glucose and ketones.

People using the CareSens II, Freestyle Optium/Neo or Accu-Chek Performa meters will have six months from 1 February until 1 August 2018 to change your meters, so there is plenty of time to change.

If you do need to change your meter you should be able to at your community pharmacy.

There won’t be any charge for your new meter when you collect it from pharmacy between 1 February and 31 July 2018.

From 1 August 2018, the CareSens II, Freestyle Optium/Neo and Accu-Chek Performa meters and their test strips will no longer be funded and all current Special Authorities will no longer be valid.

If you are using a CareSens meter for glucose testing and a Freestyle Optium/Neo for ketones, you can change to a CareSens Dual meter

If you have questions about the CareSens range of new, funded meters you can find out more about them here:
