Iliana Fusitua
Health Promoter and
HOPE Co-ordinator
Iliana started working for Diabetes NZ Auckland in April 2013 as a Health Promoter. She has a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Post-grad Diploma in Public Health. Her background is in Health Promotion and Health Research. Iliana is coordinating and co-facilitating our HOPE programmes in the ‘at risk’ communities and helping to raise diabetes awareness through community talks and events.

Health Navigator
Mobile Van Co-ordinator
Dave joined Diabetes NZ Auckland in 2025 as a Health Navigator. He is passionate about raising diabetes awareness through community interactions.
Bandana Halka
Mobile Diabetes Awareness Nurse
Bandana is a registered nurse (RN PGCert) who brings 18 years varied practical experience. She previously worked as a nurse in the aged care facility adding her knowledge for best practise and equitable outcomes. She has a passion for health promotion in the community and prevention of diabetes.
Shantelle Bliss
Diabetes NZ Auckland Youth Services Coordinator
Shantelle has a real understanding and compassion for children and youth living with diabetes and the demands required of fulltime caregivers. Her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a toddler and has just reached her 10-year Diaversary. Shantelle had gestational diabetes just prior to this, requiring insulin.
Shantelle works part-time, organising events, plus plenty behind the scenes, working on projects and is a member of the Diabetes NZ Youth Forum, advocating for youth living with diabetes.

Diabetes Community Coordinator – Māori and Pacific

Lianne works as a volunteer two days a week, coordinating the Onehunga Support Group and supporting other general office tasks.
