The changes were endorsed at the Diabetes New Zealand AGM in November 2016.

2016 AWARDS

Diabetes New Zealand Award
Diabetes New Zealand Awards may be granted to those individuals who, through their
achievements or contribution to the care and support of people with diabetes and
management of diabetes have created significant benefits, whether directly or indirectly, for
the diabetes cause in New Zealand.

The Award recognises exceptional achievement and is made in the knowledge
that personal sacrifices must always be part of such a contribution to diabetes.

Sir Charles Burns Memorial Award
This will be presented to any member of Diabetes New Zealand who can demonstrate to
the satisfaction of the Awards Committee that he or she has managed their diabetes for
a period of 50 years or more through the use of insulin therapy.

Notice of Election

Diabetes New Zealand are currently seeking nominations for the two elected member positions
on the Advisory Council.

Who are the Advisory Council?
The role of the Advisory Council is to be to be a source of sector knowledge, expertise and
experience.   A full list of the roles and responsibilities of the Advisory Council can be found
in the Diabetes New Zealand Constitution.

Who can be nominated?
All applicants for the Elected Advisory Council Member positions must be a full members
of Diabetes New Zealand.

Each nomination must be seconded by another full member of Diabetes New Zealand.

Election Process
Nomination forms must be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday 5 October 2016
and are available on the Diabetes New Zealand website.

Once the nominations are received, voting by full members will proceed for three weeks
(6 October – 27 October 2016). This will be by post and or email.

This information will be posted on social media and to all members will emails.

Diabetes NZ has launched a new kind of membership to connect with more Kiwis and raise awareness about diabetes and its risks.

A free Support Membership category was launched in July with a range of online benefits including digital access to our flagship magazine Diabetes and affiliation with the leading Kiwi charity for diabetes in New Zealand.

Diabetes New Zealand still offers paid membership options for those who want to financially support our work and receive the full range of member benefits, including access to face-to-face support from your local branch and a hard copy of Diabetes magazine delivered to your door quarterly.

Constitution - We need your feedback
June - July 2016

The Board and the Advisory Council have undertaken a review of the structure and organisation of Diabetes New Zealand Inc, now that we have completed 4 years since unification.

As a result of that review, we are proposing some changes to the Constitution.
Consultation Documents are available on our website now.

Please submit your feedback by 30 July.
We will consider your feedback and provide comments back to those who submitted feedback.

Then the Constitution will be finalised and included in the AGM papers for consideration and approval by Members at the AGM being held on 26 November.
